Chinese Classical Dance “Green & White Snake” -
Selected from Chen Weike and Xiao Yu's "After the Rain"
"After the Rain," a classical dance duet co-created by Chen Weike and Xiao Yu in 2022, skillfully uses umbrellas and fans as props to depict the scene of Green Snake and White Snake swimming in West Lake. This work fully demonstrates the characteristics of Chinese classical dance with its controlled and free movements, highlighting the beauty of Eastern rhythms and traditional culture. The images of Green Snake and White Snake originate from the Chinese folk legend "Legend of the White Snake," which tells the tortuous love story between the human form of a snake spirit (Bai Suzhen) and a young man (Xu Xian), deeply expressing the people's yearning for free love and hatred for the unreasonable constraints of feudal forces.
